From the hosts at the Black Cat House: Native plants provide ecological benefits in just about every way you can list. You'll notice our yard here at The Black Cat House hosts an abundant population of pollinator insects and birds--an unusual sight in manicured colonial lawns. A bluegrass lawn just can't provide the same beautiful habitat and nutritious food for wildlife that prairie grasses and wildflowers can.
Come to our garden day to assist in our native planting, or just come to learn more about what we're adding to our yard. Hang out with our gardener, the plants, and the critters!
Bring your garden gloves if you have them, though we have a few extra pairs you can borrow. We'll be outside, of course, so please prep accordingly for the weather that day.
This event is free and open to the public. The Black Cat House is an all-ages, drug and alcohol-free space. We are wheelchair accessible.
