Yah, it's a movie featuring a giant radioactive monster that attacks
Japan. Not really a remake of the 1954 classic, but a re-imagining. Told from the point of view of one failed kamikaze pilot right at the end of the war. It takes on issues of survivors guilt, PTSD, the conditions that prevailed in Japan for years after the surrender, the huge number of civilian casualties. Also tells of camaraderie and determination and a love story that takes the whole movie to develop.
The Big G is only onscreen about 15 minutes total. But every time he is terrifying. CGI with possibly a person in motion capture rig. (anybody seen Andy Serkis lately? did he go to Japan for a bit?) Toho has finally abandoned the person in a suit method that was the only way for so many years.
This is the color version and i will be showing it with both english dubbing and subtitles. 3rd floor conference room of the Foundry. Elevator is available. BYOB, bring your dinner, bring a friend, bring a date, bring snacks to enjoy and maybe share. Free popcorn as always.
